I love to look up daily, weekly, and monthly observances. You never know what someone's celebrating at any given time. I mean, hey, there are days to celebrate chocolate, coffee, AND wine!!! Who'd want to miss that? Here on my blog, we're going to celebrate some common and not so common observances with fabulous authors from all over the world. I'm kicking it off with Dental Drill Appreciation Day!
Yes, there's really a day for everyone's favorite tooth torture device. I shit you not.
I even confirmed it on several dentist pages on Facebook, like this one from Jason D. Hutto, DDS. There are all kinds of weird observances for every day, week, and month of the year, and you can find them all on BrownieLocks.com.
Did you know that in 1875 The first battery-powered dentist’s drill was patented by George F Green of Kalamazoo, Michigan? Yep, he's the guy to blame, or thank, depending on your relationship with dreaded thing.
Ironically, it's also National Peanut Brittle Day, which has probably led many a sweet-tooth to the mercy of the dental drill. Is this a conspiracy between dastardly dentists and contemptible confectioneries? The world may never know.
I'll leave you with one of my very favorite dental drill scenes....
